Last year, we decided to design and make a whole staircase. The main reason was that we had a concrete, raw, staircase without handrail in a 3 floors house and a kid with a great willing to walk. Fast. We decided it made out of oak, stainless steel and glass. But I nearly knew nothing about staircase design, woodworking, metal working (milling, lathing, welding) and all the tools I had were a small metal grinder and a battery powered drill ! At first glance, this seemed quite of a challenge. Here are all the steps of this project: 1. 3D CAD design 2. 3D CAD rendering 3. Parts machining 4. Parts welding (TIG) 5. Joining parts together 6. Adding the oak steps 7. Tempered glass panels Bonus: the terrace guardrail Some videos (milling & welding) Comments, Questions ? You can send me an email at this address |
